What are the rewards and challenges of practicing in Peachland?
The Okanagan is a WONDERFUL place to live and practice. The City of Kelowna, and the newly-formed City of Westbank are minutes away – yet Peachland retains its ‘small-town’ welcome. Boating and other water activities are right outside the clinic door! Big White, Silver Star and Apex ski resorts are near-by for winter fun.

Beach Avenue Medical Clinic is a BRAND-NEW clinic and is the ONLY medical clinic in Peachland! It was built right next door to the local drug store and on the popular downtown strip – although it still faces the beach! Beach Avenue Medical Clinic plans to have one doctor seeing walk-in patients and another one doing appointments. The benefit of this arrangement is that as a group, we can cover for each other if we wish to have time off and we can have good team camaraderie.

As for the profile of patients at Beach Avenue Medical Clinic, we are a family oriented clinic so we see a full range of people. Our physicians are likely to see a spectrum of elderly patients as Peachland is an expanding retirement location.

Do the Family Physicians do Obstetrics or admit to Hospital?
As of now we don’t do obstetrics nor do we admit patients to the hospital. Hospitalists assist the specialist in providing hospital care – usually in Kelowna, but for some in Penticton. Doctors at Beach Avenue Medical Clinic may choose to visit their patients in hospital when appropriate. In regards to on-call, we will have an ‘after-hours’ messaging but calls have been almost non-existent in days past.

What can I expect to earn on a monthly basis working at Beach Avenue Medical Clinic?
Beach Avenue Medical Clinic has a competitive revenue sharing arrangement with its associate physicians. Physician earnings are based upon the number of shifts worked every month. Our schedule can accommodate a full time physician work load of 18 to 20 shifts per month. A Beach Avenue Medical Clinic physician will likely see an average 35 or more patients per shift if they are seeing walk in patients. For booked appointments, it is usual to see 25-30 patients per shift but we pay incentives. Physicians sign-up for shifts that are most conducive for their lifestyle and are flexible in sharing evenings and weekends.

How are physicians paid at Beach Avenue Medical Clinic?
We have a revenue apportionment schedule for services rendered to patients at Beach Avenue Medical Clinic. We will make that available to you when we meet. For physicians working a regular schedule we pay on billings submitted and we provide an advance at the end of the month.

What about time off?
Beach Avenue Medical Clinic is committed to providing a flexible work schedule for its family doctors and will accommodate physician requests for time off.

What are working conditions like at Beach Avenue Medical Clinic?
Our goal is to have Beach Avenue Medical Clinic be a respectful and joyful place to work! We believe in the importance of strong team dynamic including both physicians and staff. Everyone who works at the clinic is considered part of the Beach Avenue Medical Clinic family. We do our best accommodate our physicians when they are experiencing family stress or emergencies.
